Easy Ways of Making Your Skin & Face Look Young and Healthy

Eternal youth and striking beauty is what we all strive for; however, time is not on our side. Can we fight it? Certainly, but only by joining the powers of quality cosmetic products, little daily rituals and healthy dietary habits!

However, wherever we turn, different people offer different advice regarding the proper skin care routine, and we often find ourselves confused by which one we should follow. The truth of the matter is – many are beneficial, it’s just that we find it difficult to implement all of them into our regular routine. For the following article, we’ve attempted to make the list of the simplest tricks that can easily help you keep your skin young and healthy.

Avoid long showers

After a hard day at work, long, hot, steamy shower is what we strive for, but not many of us are aware of the fact that this few minutes of enjoyment strip our skin of moisture and wash away natural protective oils. For this reason, it’s advisable to limit your showering routine to no more than 10 minutes and keep the water mild.

Care for your neck and chest area

Both your neck and your chest should be treated as the extension of your face, as they are covered with an extremely sensitive skin. As such, this area is a prime spot which reveals the very first signs of aging. It is prone to wrinkles, dryness and sun spots. In order to keep these areas youthful as long as possible, they should be tended to with purifying facial creams which will not only cleanse it, but keep it hydrated, as well. If you have an extremely dry skin, it’s advisable to use facial moisturizing mask at least twice a month.

You can also choose to clean your face and neck with natural cold creams, glycerine rinse and rosewater twice a day – this will effectively remove skin-damaging pollutants.

Don’t rub your eyes

Skin around our eyes is yet another sensitive area, quite prone to wrinkles. With this in mind, you should never rub them, andif they feel itchy, apply washcloth or compress instead. Additionally, if you wish to keep your eye area smooth and wrinkle-free for years to come you can try with a 5 to 10 minute facial exercises.

Opt for the best sun protection

With the first rays of spring sun, we rush outside to start working on our tan. Still, we never stop to think how this affects our skin in the long run. Aside from giving you the ever-popular stir away from the sun when it’s the highest in the sky advice, we would also like to emphasize how important it is to avoid using scented lotions and perfumes. If you expose your skin to the UV rays, you can expect to see blotchy skin in places where you used such products.

Watch what you eat

A healthy diet is the cornerstone of healthy skin. With our bodies constantly producing new cells, it requires the right raw materials to perform this activity successfully. With strong cells being able to resist damage from pollution and stress, as well as being able to retain much needed moisture, it is evident that they are necessary for maintaining glowing skin. So, what should be on your plate?

Vitamin C

According to an LA certified nutritionist, Kimberly Snyder, vitamin C is an essential component for combating skin dullness. It restores brightness on our face and is effective in repairing collagen. Aside from citrus fruits, vitamin C can be found in red peppers, brussels sprouts, strawberries and broccoli.

Beta-carotene-rich foods

Foods that are orange in colour, like carrots, mangoes or squash, contain beta-carotene which represents a form of vitamin A and have the power to give your skin quite an appealing tone. Furthermore, with spinach, chard, kale, and other dark leafy greens in your morning, antioxidant-rich smoothie, you can rid your skin and body of all toxins.

Healthy fats

Although fats are the first ones out when switching to a healthy nutrition plan, the fact is – they are essential for our skin, since they provide moisture. It is vital to consume foods rich with omega-3 fatty acids, like fish, chia seeds, as well as monounsaturated fats found in avocados, walnuts and olive oil.

Cleanse the environment

Did you know that, according to statistics, indoor air is more polluted than the outdoor? To ensure your skin is able to breathe during the night, the air in your bedroom has to be moisturized every night. You can do this by turning down the heat or putting dry pots, clothes or damp towels on your radiators. You’re bound to feel the difference in only several days – you’ll have less dry spots on your skin and it will feel far less itchy.

Bottom line

In order for any of the abovementioned tricks to prove their effectiveness, you’ll have to persevere. Change can hardly happen overnight, and when it does, it is not going to be everlasting, unless you continue with the regular routine.
